Cressbrook Dale - Peak District Walk
Sunday 8th June 2014
Today we headed for Tideswell to explore several dales. After the recent rain our boots certainly got muddy.
Start: Tideswell Dale car park (SK1536 7424)
Route: Tideswell Dale car park - Tideswell - Litton - Tansley Dale - Cressbrook Dale - Miller's Dale - Tideswell Dale - Tideswell Dale car park
Distance: 6.5 miles Ascent: 295 metres Time Taken: 4 hours
Terrain: A mixture of good but muddy paths.
Weather: Warm and sunny with a light shower.
Pub Visited: Red Lion, Litton Ale Drunk: Peak Ales, Bakewell Best Bitter
As we left Tideswell the spires of the Cathedral of the Peak came into view.
Heading towards Litton with views across to Tideswell Rake and High Rake.
As we approach Tansley Dale Wardlow Hay Cop comes into view.
Limestone outcrops mark the start of the descent into Tansley Dale.
Tansley Dale leads into Cressbrook Dale.
We sat amongst the flowers eating our lunch.
As we sat there black clouds came and went.
We took the lower route through the wood, which turned out to be the very muddy option.
By the time we reached Water-cum-Jolly Dale the sun had disappeared.
Walking through Miller's Dale we came across another of the Ranger Service benches.
